Wooden Arbors

Posted on June 10, 2010.
Wooden ArborsWhat would be the best way to anchor a wooden arbor on the ground so as not to tip over in high winds?

I have two metal spikes in L-shaped sides that do not secure enough to prevent it from falling.

Drive a heavy long pipe into the ground leaving some of them came to attach to the sides of the arbor. If you get below the frost line with the holes, then put concrete around the pipes, they will last longer than wooden arbor.

Dig holes and pour concrete footings. It will never switch.

Go to Home Depot and buy a mobile home anchors, they are like metal augers, excellent work.

Try wire or cable guidelines - Stainless steel, of course.

it is best to dig holes and put the messages tree in the hole, and fill with dry cement. then add water to cement. This will ensure the arbor.
