How do I join a reel of my house? I want to add an automatic water hose reel next to my house. The problem is that my house has vinyl siding. So, just with wooden pegs will probably cause the siding to get flattened ugly and evil. Ideas?
I would not attach to my house because it causes holes in the siding and invites water and insects to enter and if you ever want to remove the reel, you have the holes there. I would get 4x4 and run into the ground near the house and the reel for the ATACH
Put screws behind the siding first, then in this.
4 anchors along, many small ring spacers and a base of solid wood. spacers (washers "they are called here) would allow the plank to sit on, thus preventing it from flattening the vinyl siding. Simply connect the coil to the wood plate and voila, you're done.
You need the wood back to fill the space between the wall axis, which could be further apart as the holes for anchoring the coil.
I was going to respond, but I think Aussie has the best answer. Please consider his council strongly.
You may want to consider sinking a post in the ground right near the wall of your home. Put it in concrete and make it deep enough to contain. Attach the coil to the position at the level you want. I did it and it works very well.
DONT attach too much your house just to buy a reel that is protable
Last summer at The Home Depot, I bought a reel and sink all in one, it is only against the house, does not need to be attached.
The sink is handy to have outside for children to wash their hands, and gardening.
The coil is at the base of the unit, and is a water coil voltage, so you can move a lever and wind the hose itself.
It was $ 99, but worth it.
Aussie said exactly what I recommended.
