What do you use? Travel playground or cradle? I'll be in a small space, because we will be back in New York, so I think having a trip to the playground instead of a set of furniture. It worked well for my brother ... has anyone done this?
a crib is not much bigger then a pack n play ... and I think the mattress is much more comfortable! carpets playground are sooo thin and a little hard. I recomemd just getting the crib, you do not need a whole set of furniture ...
We skipped all that and coslept. By the time he graduated to a single bed, we were in a bigger place.
I co-sleep and a crib as a sidecar.
But you should know that experts say SIDS do not let your baby sleep in a play yard.
we have a crib for our baby's room, a playground for travel. If you have limited space, I would say the playground ... it works as well as the crib and does not take much space.
Before my son was born, we bought a play yard for our son. My son did not sleep, so we ended up with his bouncy seat or swing to sleep in. When he was about 4 or 5 months, we bought him a bed and he slept in bed since. We used the park on rare occasions for my son to sleep in (house of gram-mother). We use the park for a toy box now. It is 17 months old now.
I had never heard of such a thing until my friend has one, but there is such a thing as a mini cradle. They have multiple levels and real mattress features like a "real" bed, but are much smaller. Here are links to a couple:

We used our playground as a portable crib when we are in a hotel and I've never had any problems, the safety rail is the same height as a crib, or our children every either of the escapees.
