A vibrant cultural scene has recently attracted global attention focused on the downtown Cultural District. Two main places offer outstanding theater, symphony, opera and other: Artists Repertory Theatre and Portland Center for the Performing Arts.

The Blues Waterfront Festival, the second largest in the country, is always popular and attracts large crowds, as does the MT. Hood Jazz Festival, an event longest of its kind in the nation. Attend the bite of Oregon festival in August is also a must, with many events, tastings of wine or beer, and lots of delicious food, courtesy of the best chefs in the region.
