pockets of smoke on gas grills? Well, Rob Rainford smoked meat on a grill to gas. I know it runs on gas, to one side of the indirect heat, but I'm wondering is, when he puts his wood chips in a wet / dry foil pouch, holes in the two parties and sets in the heated, it is laying directly on the pocket gas fireplace? Does not catch fire? We have never smoked on the grill before, just used a smoker. Those of you grill or smoker, I'm ready for management. I try. Also, where do you get the apple and cherry wood chips? (I found out about this issue of Cooking.com 'texasgirl "but there was no answer. I always wondered, as he would be so much easier to control the heat in a gas grill charcoal smoker. I have both, but would almost never use smoking if I could use the grill.
I do it all the time I'm too cheap to buy a smoker. You can buy chips anywhere (usually) you buy essential BBQ - Wal-Mart (I say this because, regardless of your country, they are there) and shops like this in your area. They did not catch fire as you soak for an hour in water before putting them in your pocket aluminum. You can buy the box of cast iron invented for your chips, but when the heating area, then heat your chips, you're out of gas! The pouch of aluminum foil works great and takes less time to heat. I put my chips on the grill when I preheat my grill, wai for smoke rolling, then quickly get my meat and close the lid. Just like a smoker, you do not want to unnecessarily open the lid of meat products that you lose the smoke of Nice. I do not know where you can find these chips, but if you call your local dealer that sells smoking, I'm sure they can tell you or order them for you! I'll be honest though, my favorite is the charcoal grill pellets. I like my Jack Daniels barbecue pellets. You basically do the same thing except you do not soak them as they are bits of charcoal. Just put in your pocket, poke a few holes and heat the same as above. Mmmmm, you'e made me hungry for ribs and when I saw it was -45 with windchill. Not even the weather barbecue By my standards, and I grill all winter long! Good luck!
Many home stores like Lowes and Home Depot to sell a box made of cast iron for wood chip smoking on any type of barbecue.
I have one and it's great.
Some of these stores including K-Mart to sell the chips.
We just go to an orchard where they grow apples and cherries and obtain or thresholds of the tree. Producers are generally give them to you. I also bargain hickory chips and cut my own from that, again, free. These boxes are not cast very large, about 6 "x8" and can be locted anywhere on the grid.
Stageman: I suppose you might be right to be out of gas before melting heats, but since I generally tend to make sure that the tanks have enough fuel before you start, I ' have this problem. Now I agree that the leaf packs heat faster, and if used on a large coal or wood pellets, but not on gas as they break and then making a mess to clean gas
grill. If time allows, I use both, and I do all year, even at temperatures as low as down 15 to 20deg, F.
