Lake McConaughy, or "Big Mac", and Lake Ogallala State Recreation Areas are headquartered in Ogallala in the Platte River Valley of southwestern Nebraska. "Big Mac" is the main reservoir of the state, measuring 20 miles long, four miles wide and 142 feet at its deepest point. In addition, its 100 miles of coastline and sandy beaches offer an ideal setting for recreation waterfront. Lake Ogallala, Lake "small", is adjacent to McConaughy.
