Drip Line Irrigation

Drip Line IrrigationDrip irrigation of rain barrels?

Is it possible to run a line of drip irrigation effective from a rain barrel? Are there potential problems with the pressure?

Yes and yes.
Has it recently in a garden but the garden is sloped with water cannon on top. It is obvious that more water into the barrel, the better it works. You'll have problems if your garden is sloping the wrong way, but even on a reasonably level garden, you will get a little water to reach the end unless you raise the barrel at least a couple of feet off the ground and making holes smaller or less often near the gun, bigger, more frequent still long. If it is a good target for porous pipe plants closer to the gun will get a lot more watered, but in this case, you only need to supplement watering with a watering can lower sometimes.

Pressure hose to a faucet is 50-100 psi, you need a pressure reducer if you did it that way.

Drip irrigation is only 10-30 psi

Make sure you keep water in the barrel
Make sure the rain barrel is placed above the ground to force the water down.

water pressure depending on the diameter of the pipe length of pipe and the height of the barrel. Yes, I think its possible, especially if you live in Seattle Washington
Need a filter to put over the hole at the bottom of the barrel preferably a screen on top to prevent items that might clog the hole set.

Obviously, it depends on how full the barrel of water is also raising the barrel will increase the pressure
