Small cabin kits can be used for permanent housing? Im a 20 Year Single Male, seeking my own permanent housing. But I do not want to live in an apartment or rental. So what would be a good idea to go the easy way and get one of these kits cabin?
I assume that you have chosen a place and everything is going as far as the codes. You should do the same thing if you're building a conventional home ... same goes for water, sewer, electricity, etc. .. You'll have to deal with these issues, no matter what type of house you build.
I've seen several types of these kits, log type, small stick construction (construction standard type 2x4), but my favorite that you would tell a design A-frame, they are sold for much parts of the lake, hunting cabins, etc. Very easy to install, cheap and many sizes and map available. For example, go to Lowes and Sutherlands and look at their selection of kit houses.
Some suggestions though. You can start with a small unit, a bedroom in the attic with a bathroom, but it should be placed on your property to make room to add an extension in the future. Very easy to extend a frame A to the rear (for example) or construction of a T-extension to the side if you decide you want another room or playroom, etc.
Another reason I like the A-frame is if you're interested, you can take the upper part (above the A above the ceiling on the second floor) and turn it into a passive solar collector for heating and hot water. Again you have to position right to do so. I saw a certain set this way and they worked very well ...
I hope this gives you some ideas, I think you have the right idea and I commend you for that ...
The questions you should ask their suppliers to enable the authorities where you want to install the cab is not meet code, if so, go with it.
Do you have a building lot? Did you water, sewer, electrical service to this lot?
Do you have a building permit?
You live in an area that does not require a heating portion within the year?
If you can get a building permit to build the hut where you want, and permission to live there all year, go ahead.
But remember, you probably will not get permission to build in the city. (The neighbors object you drive down the prices of neighborhood homes) then the intention to live life sentence. Do you own your own equipment for winter snow removal?
Can you hold your own in bear country?
Living in a cabin in the woods alone may sound good, even romantic. But the harsh reality can bite pretty hard. Better do some heavy research.
if you have never lived the life of the car, why not rent a cottage in the offseason. rates are cheaper than a house! then you will know if this is the right path for you. but yes, in some areas, these booths are allowed.
These kits are made for the cabin 40 back and used as a vacation get-a-ways, usually in the woods on their property. If you have permission to use someone else's property then generally allowed. It depends on the code of life reasidential County. Must meet certian criteria; / disposal of greywater, toilets / How do you keep your garbage and dump you, etc. Some counties have commitments that have been added to specify the allowable minimum size of the cabin. So check everything first before buying one and see if you qualify. There are trailer parks that allow year-round living and provide water and sewer and electrical hook. I saw these little booths installed in these parks and people live there all year. Good luck!
you can in the UK, but then you have to buy a piece of land to build, search the net for the home kit, you'll be amazed what happens
