Is there a place like breaking a train in the yard? I'm looking to find a pair of air horns from a locomotive to climb onto a truck. For no other reason than to have big horns!
It is safe. In the United Kingdom, there are several. The best known and easy to use yet is CF Booth Rotherham. These people are still demolishing the old locomotive and sell anything (I did a complete engine from them, except, surprisingly, were absent horn!) Other locations are Rod Hull Jnr Rotherham. There are many other scrap metal dealers who break the trains, but this is mainly done on site in the railway depots. E-Bay has usually a pair or two of horns on the loco it fairly regularly, it is useful to keep an eye on them.
Its the end of line.
It may be difficult to find your air horns. Many railway locomotives cannibalize before they fall off the cutter's torch still useful items. Horns, whistles and bells are in this category and are always difficult to find.
Good luck and good hunting.
