When a motorcycle accessory is made of "billet" aluminum does this mean? Is a piece of machined aluminum better than standard part? What is the advantage? Thank you.
Billet aluminum means that the part is machined from a solid block of aluminum (a ticket), rather than being thrown from molten aluminum. Billet parts are generally more expensive, but are more durable made from a single block of aluminum
single block of aluminum or steel machined to a ticket "is material. Tickets go round and square. A part from a single piece of aluminum is more beautiful veneer of quality. And if you take partly the next stage, forging and heat treatment then you have some long term. machined parts are quite the rage, but are not only better louder until you hammer forging and heat treatment
Part is machined from a block of aluminum vs. cast "in a mold.
Honestly, besides the look, I see no advantage to either. aluminum parts can be designed and built as strong as necessary, either way.
A solid block of aluminum has been CNC machined to the desired shape. It seems just fantasy.
What does "Ticket" means?
A ticket is simply a piece of material that is shaped as it is finished by machining. Most finished products are either cast or molded into shape. A ticket is a block of raw material.
It is a way to make aluminum makes it look almost chrome.
Ticket will be cut from a piece of metal that has been pressed / heat treatment / wet. It can be polished to shine, not quite as good as chrome. This is not really "better" is just a style thing.
