BBQ Tips & wood chips? I use a charcoal grill and read about putting wood in the coal with my what to do? And where can I buy the wood for barbecue from? I live in Cleveland Ohio and BBQ Tips is well appreciated.
You should be able to buy in the open section at Walmart or anywhere like that.
You need to soak the wood chips in water for some time (perhaps one hour), then put them on the coals.
This will add a nice hickory flavor to your barbecue!
There are many gadgets to use (either a smoke box), but I like using heavy tin foil and have put my chips, I soaked for 30 minutes in a makeshift pillow facts foil. Poke some holes in paper and place on hot coals. The coals which have wood chips or particles in the coal itself sometimes a binder and I'm not sure if this is too good for you or your food. You can find wood chips at hardware stores, Bar-B-Que and it comes in walnut, maple, apple, etc. The purpose of putting wood chips on your coal smoke that is food. It's a long process, but most definitely worth the wait. I smoked a turkey, chicken, ribs (both pork and beef), most everything under the sun. You can even get cedar planks for grilling fish. Wood chips can be found in most any store in the same area is charcoal ...
I just added to the coals once they are hot and let the coals burn
one summer I found myself with a little .. walnut, I put in a pit of burning ... and then with a shovel to put the coals in the grill ... and cooked just right with the wood .. What a difference ... I've always present when we camp.
I agree with Nathalie, just make sure you soak them real good first in order not to burn the outset, and wet wood makes the most delicious smoke. I do not know if you have a Kraถgers in Cleveland, but almost any grocery store will be deserving of that name chips hickory, mesquite, apple, crisps law fluid with charcoal and coal. Its a lot cheaper than at the grocery store. Once you get some exp. under your belt, will yoour LOVE smoking meat.

You can buy walnut, which is very smoky tasting, cherry wood, apple wood (soft) at any place that has a barbecue and accessories.
Most markets carry small bags. Simply soak in water so it will not burn. You want the wood to add flavor to the meat. Slow cooking is best for large pieces. In the kitchen-line for direct cooking roasts and steaks for.
